We have seen children in the slums facing hopelessness. They have seen poverty as a way of life for generations. Parents don’t see education as priority when children can work. Short-term money making potential supersedes education. Even when education is conceived as a way out of the slums, there may not be any means available for schooling. Parents have meager resources to educate their children.
What the community needs is hope and inspiration. The parents need inspiration that education for their children is possible. That one day their children will grow up as educated and productive members of the society. That their child have the potential equal to any other child living anywhere in the world. They just need a chance.
The coaching center programs are the only supplement these children will have to technology and programs like STEM (science, technology, engineering and math.)
The cost of $12.00 per child for an entire year is an effective and affordable way to overcome poverty, forced labor, and early marriage.
