Saidpurians perhaps have defiance in their blood and the attitude shows quite prominently when they face any challenge or competition. They thrive fighting uphill battles. That’s what I found yesterday in the two preliminary meetings I had with our NGOs DOPS and RBNS, the fierce but friendly competitors in Saidpur, and they want nothing less but to win the position of the top school performer.

We also have Rangpur’s DCPUK, and that makes the 24 DoPeace Learning Centers in Saidpur and Rangpur that have dominated the performance scene in the last five years, but Dhaka’s FFDA is the rising star and a fierce competitor. Not far behind are Chattogram’s IDSE and Dhaka’s Eakok.

The battle in so fierce that we call the preparatory evaluation meetings by Dewan Wasek (that took place last month) as the Semi-Final and performance during my visit as the Final. RBNS did quite well in this Semi-Final, but DOPS abstained, and decided to go for the kill in the Final.

The opening presentations yesterday, about 4 hours each, have been captivating and amusing that included critical discussions with the teachers and the staff, music, and dance, and I was thrilled with that. RBNS included student presentations as well. There are only 10 points allocated for the extracurricular activities. The rest of the 90 points are for the educational excellence of the students.

I have the field visit for DOPS today and RBNS tomorrow. The battle rages on!
